At Soul Filled Music Lessons, instruction begins with meaningful mentorship that builds long term student/teacher connections. Our teachers, create an environment where musicians feel encouraged, understood, and inspired learning to not only play music, but how to express themselves through it in their individual and unique voices.
Methods & Practice
Recommended method books are to be used in both in instruction and private practice to enhance agility, tone quality, instrument mechanics and reading music notation.
Theory & Ear Training
Lessons cover the fundamental elements of music notation, scale patterns, chords, rhythm, and form while including ear training practices designed to expand recognition and response to melodic movements and chord functions.
Literature & Music History
Students are trained in both classical and jazz literature with emphasis on improvisation learning reputable songs throughout the ages of classical, jazz, pop and other world cultures.
Confidence & Stage Presence
Under the guidance of active industry musicians, students will gain artistic insight about stage presence and professional etiquette in addition to common riffs/lines and melodic phrasing that build confidence for live performance or studio opportunities.

MEET THE FOUNDER
SHAYLA LOGAN
Soul Filled Music Lessons was founded in 2008 by performing musician, recording artist, and educator Shayla Logan of Springfield, Illinois. The program was later established as an LLC in Dallas, Texas in 2020, where it expanded its reach by offering online music instruction in addition to in-person lessons.
Shayla was a performance scholarship recipient and studied music at Xavier University of Louisiana, where she also performed in several house bands on the renowned Bourbon Street in New Orleans. These experiences helped shape her philosophy of combining disciplined musical training with soulful artistic expression.
As an active performer, recording artist, and educator, Shayla set out to create a music education program that brings real-world musical experience into every lesson. Her approach emphasizes strong technical foundations, expressive musicianship, and mentorship that helps students develop confidence within their own unique musical style and voice.
In 2024, Soul Filled Music Lessons began expanding its network of instructors, carefully selecting educators who are not only skilled teachers but also active professional performers. Today, the program continues to grow as a community of musicians dedicated to guiding students through meaningful and inspiring musical development.
